The Resettlement Agency is a not-for-profit community project and a member of the national Furniture Re-use Network.  It is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society and has tax-exempt charitable status with the Inland Revenue.

The Agency currently provides the following services:

Domestic Appliance Recycling Centre

170 Rendle Street

This exciting new initiative is part-funded by the Environment Agency.

White goods and other domestic appliance are donated by businesses and members of the public.  These are checked, reconditioned and then sold on at affordable prices.

The Agency also buys in white goods, which are reconditioned and then sold on at low cost.

Workshop repairs
Now that the Agency has more workshop space, it is aiming to expand its operations to increase the volume of white goods being put back into use.

Furniture Re-use Project

80-84 Union Street & 97 Union Street

The Furniture Re-use Project forms the core of the Agency’s work.  Furniture is generously donated by the public and local businesses and these are then checked and cleaned before being sold on at affordable prices or given away free to people in need.

Free-of-Charge Furniture Service

Our Free-of-Charge Service is discretionary and applies to a select range of second-hand furniture and in some cases white goods. The amount and range of stock we can give away free is limited and the Agency must first cover its running costs. The Agency will look carefully at a person’s income and individual circumstances before agreeing to provide free assistance. Customers and agencies that want to know more about this service and the conditions that apply should contact us on 01752 217046 or use the contact form provided.

New Furniture Range

This supplements our second-hand stock with a range of new furniture, much of it constructed in our own workshop. Please note that customers are unable to access new furniture through the Agency’s Free-of-Charge Service.

Social Inclusion

This service assists socially excluded sections of the community to facilitate rehabilitation and help get them back on track. The service helps organise work placements and provides in-house advice and support to a range of volunteers including offenders/ex-offenders.
